Tenzing-Hillary Airport (also known as Lukla Airport) in Lukla, Nepal is on 9200 feet and only has a 460m single ended runway, with a huge drop on the one end and high mountains on the other.  This makes it arguably the most extreme airport in the world.  This is the gateway airport for most climbers of Mount Everest.
